Another modern exterior house design is the integrated indoor-outdoor living spaces. Many homeowners have created robust outdoor areas that accommodate prolonged time in nature and facilitate a variety of activities. Homes with plenty of windows and large glass doors or retractable walls are best suited for indoor-outdoor living.

The most popular outdoor living spaces include gazebos, decks, patios, porches, pergolas, and sheltered lounges.
