Tile Trend Predictions for 2023
Blog Post | December 2022

As 2022 starts wrapping up, we're wondering what 2023 might hold for us, and after seeing what was popular this year, and what was being displayed in the Cersaie fair here are our predictions for tile trends of 2023!

First up is the continuation of saying goodbye to neutrals and hello to colour. As people gain renewed energy for life, in turn their homes are transforming into colourful creations to add happiness and warmth. Think warm mustard to imitate the sun, or bright blue tiles to mimic the sky. Green is the colour of new life and energy. Whether you're looking to make a statement with your walls or simply add a pop of colour to your furniture, these warm hues are sure to make your home stand out!

Another trend we’re expecting to see is metallics making a strong appearance in modern interior design- from wall art to furniture to industrial lighting. More hues, tones, and textures are being used as people continue to explore the potential of this trend. Copper is a timeless metallic shade that combines both luxury and warmth, but in 2023 we think love for metallics will go further; seeing the emergence of darker or colourful metallics, such as deep blues and greens and dark greys. These are ideal choices for making an industrial statement

Our next prediction is textured surfaces – Incorporating different surface textures into your home can add so much interest and character. There are lots of ways that tiles can incorporate texture into your walls. From a 3D effect that’s sure to wow to mosaics with a contrasting grout colour to make their shapes stand out! Don’t forget the simple things, like a tactile shaggy rug or throw cushions, or even a 3D piece of artwork.

Terrazzo has been creeping back into homes since 2018, but we can see this really taking off in 2023 in the recent top to toe look. A beautiful blend of colours and texture in a single tile - used in this style to blend the wall and floor together it’s a perfect choice to create a statement without it being too over the top.

Marble never goes out of style, but our prediction for it in interior design trends for 2023 is in large format. The beauty of using larger-sized tiles is that it gives a more seamless look, and the smooth texture and light tones will make the room appear wider and longer. As well as using marble effect on walls and floors, you could also introduce it into your home in the form of accessories, such as sinks and tableware.

Look for terracotta tones coming back into fashion in 2023! At the Cersaie fair in Italy we noticed this his cozy tone making waves. Fresh takes on the terracotta trend will include updating the finish to add a glossy look. This will give your home a modern twist on a classic material. Whether you use terracotta tiles or another terracotta-inspired home design element, this trend is sure to add warmth and personality to your space.

Our final prediction is something that we think will stay in popularity: Wood-look tiles! Wood-look tiles are a popular choice for floors and walls, and it’s easy to see why. They offer the warm, natural look of wood without having to cut down a single tree or worry about the wear and tear of actual wood. And with today’s technology, wood-look tiles can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, marble, and even glass. For a truly unique look, try wood-look plank floor and wall designs in a chevron pattern. This 1970s-inspired design is making a comeback in a big way, and it’s sure to add personality to any space. Whether you’re looking for a classic or contemporary look, wood-look tiles are a great option that will stand the test of time.

We’re looking forward to seeing how our predictions play out in 2023, and we can’t wait to supply your projects throughout the next year!
